This is as Election Watch Civil Society Organization, YIAGA Africa, on Friday anathematized the verdict of Commission to distribute Permanent Voters Card to voters in Anambra, 24 hours to the elections.
The Director of YIAGA, Samson Itodo, said this during a program on Channels Television, ‘Politics today’. The National Commissioner for the commission, Festus Okoye, during the Programme, had bared that INEC was still caught up in the allocation of PVCs to allow lots of voters to partake in the election.
According to Okoye, the commission had experienced hold-up due to the insecurity in the state. We moved them into Awka and allocated them to the 21 LGAs in Anambra. “ We can’t get the number of PVCs given out but it is going on and also that of sensitive materials, in many L.G.A and we testified a huge turn-up.
Still, Itodo, who dissented with the commission’s opinion, said, “ This is a debit and it’s a recession. They did that during the 2019 elections; they did it in all the elections we had latterly. “ To come to an election of this character and the commission is still distributing PVCs 24 hours to the elections marks a recession and it’s inferior.” But Okoye gave words of confidence that the uncollected PVCs would not be compromised.
“ The uncollected ones won’t be endangered. No one can vote with a card that isn’t his own,” Okoye added.
